NEBOSH AWARD IN HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK

About the course
This introductory qualification will help you understand and improve the safety culture in your organisation, by equipping you to identify and deal with hazards at work.  It is specifically designed to meet the needs of an international audience.  There is no content on UK law. 

This qualification is an ideal first step towards other higher level NEBOSH qualifications including NEBOSH’s International General Certificate.

Who should attend this course?
This introductory qualification is aimed at anyone who needs to understand the principles of health and safety as part of their job.

Course Contents
The syllabus is divided into 2 units, (1) Workplace safety foundations; (2) Risk assessment activity.

There are 10 elements in Unit 1 which covers a range of workplace hazards and methods of control and are as follows:
Unit 1 Workplace safety foundations
Element 1:  The foundations of health and safety
Element 2:  The responsibility for health and safety
Element 3:  Health and safety risk assessment and control
Element 4:  Work equipment
Element 5:  Transport safety
Element 6:  Working with electricity
Element 7:  Fire safety
Element 8:  Manual handling and repetitive activities
Element 9:  Hazardous substances
Element 10: The working environment

The second unit which is the Risk Assessment Practical Application is aimed at assessing a candidate’s ability to complete successfully two activities and they are as follows:
a)  Safety Workplace Inspection
b)  A Short Report Writing

Course Duration and Assessment
The training is spread over 3 days plus a 60 minutes multiple choice exam and a Risk Assessment Practical Application.
Participants must achieve the minimum pass standard in the examination and assessment to receive the full Award Certificate.
